History of the Vordermitterast
The Vordermitterast farmstead has been documented since 1400. The family has owned it since the 1920s, so for over 100 years now. The farmhouse, which was demolished in 2022 and, as is customary here, was largely built of wood - apart from the kitchen and the foundation walls - was last completely rebuilt after a fire in 1798. On the stone wall of the kitchen wing is a fresco of St. Florian, the patron saint against fire hazards, who also successfully protected the new house from another fire for 200 years. Watercolors and photos of the cozy old courtyard can be found in the stairwell - and local history books provide an insight into the exciting history of the Spertental.
The rental of guest rooms has a long tradition at the Vordermitterast, as at many other farms - until the early 2000s, the old farmhouse not only provided a home for the family, but also for numerous guests from home and abroad.

Renovation 2022/23
Unfortunately, the wooden house had to be completely replaced in 2022/23 because, although it had the charm of a museum and a bygone era, it could no longer be renovated in any meaningful way.
The floor plan of Tyrolean farmhouses was retained in the new building - a wide central corridor with two chambers on the right and left on each side. However, the house was built with a basement and also slightly higher so that there was room for a light-flooded attic apartment at the top - a “staircase” at the back provides easy access to all the vacation apartments, the wellness area in the basement and the ski room & “library”.
In addition, small en-suite bathrooms were built between the “chambers”/rooms, so that today every bedroom has its own bathroom.
Not only the floor plan was allowed to remain - some favorite pieces are also reminiscent of the “old” Vordermitterast: above all the massive, cast-iron and fireclay-lined kitchen stove, which has since formed the heart of the huge family kitchen. It was loaded onto a trailer, transported to Upper Austria and restored with great passion by a stove fitter with specialist knowledge in metalworking, so that it can be fired up again on cold days and fill the kitchen with a warmth that no heating system in the world can provide. The fire crackles cozily on dark evenings, warming body and soul, and the large kettle simmers away, keeping hot water ready for tea etc. at all times.

The usual many small windows in farmhouses have been replaced by several large windows, and each “chamber”/room now has its own large French door to the spacious, wrap-around balcony, so that the whole house is flooded with light. In addition to preserving the original charm on the one hand and modern comfort on the other, the focus of the design was also on the functionality of the vacation apartments: the interior design on the upper floor has been chosen in such a way that several smaller dining tables can be fitted together as required, thus creating space for 4 to 10 and, if necessary, 14 people in the eat-in kitchen in the Apartment Schwarzkogel.

Where there used to be an above-ground pool next to the farmhouse, which we used a lot as a family, we have built our own modern private outdoor pool measuring 4 x 8 m and 1.20 m deep. The pool is heated in summer with analog solar carpets, cleaned by a sand filter system and is available on request for our summer guests with proof of swimming ability for summer moments of enjoyment. Seats invite you to linger in comfort:
By the pool, there are a number of leisure loungers on the huge wooden veranda/“Vorbeibruck” for relaxing hours or even days by the rippling and sparkling pool. There is also a large sunbathing lawn in front of the farmhouse with loungers and parasols as well as a wonderful view of the Kitzbühel Grasberge mountains and in particular the Kleiner and Großer Rettenstein. You can sleep, enjoy the view, read, relax from everyday stress... while the kids jump on the giant trampoline, play table tennis, practise unicycling...
The new building has also created a small wellness area in the basement. It is possible to use the private sauna for two hours on request for a fee. The existing fitness equipment has also found a new home and can be used privately if interested. An external staircase leads directly from the fitness room to the pool area.
